WHS will hold summer school this year using an online program called Edgenuity. Certified teachers will be assigned to students to assist through coursework and troubleshoot technology questions. Once Summer School begins, students will be able to attend tutoring with their instructor by entering through the West Wing entrance during the summer school hours listed above. On or before the first day of Summer School, students will receive an email from their teacher on how to log in and begin their coursework. Communication with students will occur via email and phone, if parental permission is granted below.
Students may take classes for credit recovery or credit advancement.
Credit Recovery means a student has failed the course and needs to retake the course to make up credit.
Credit Advancement means a student has not taken the course yet, but wants to take it to get ahead in credit.
You may choose a maximum of 2 courses (equivalent to two semesters). Each course is worth a 1/2 credit. This means a student cannot earn more than 1 full credit in summer school.
PLEASE NOTE:
-PHYSICAL EDUCATION - If your child is signing up for PE this summer the class is held from 7:30am-11:00am on each of the dates listed above. To earn PE credit your child must be present 17 of the 19 attendance days. There will be no make-up sessions.
-DRIVER'S EDUCATION - If your child is signing up for Driver's Education this is a non-credit bearing course. They will need to be present on the first five days of instruction from 7:30am until 11:00am and then will schedule a time on three consecutive days for three hours each day with the instructor for driving. Students must be 15 years of age to take Driver's Ed. There are limited seats for Driver's Education. Once that maximum has been met you will still be allowed to sign up however you will be placed on a wait list in the event a student decides to drop prior to the first day of instruction.
-*EOCs - Students enrolled in English II, Algebra I, Algebra II, Government, or Biology
for credit advancement will be required to come in to school to take an EOC on campus the last week of Summer School.
Students who are taking English II, Algebra I, Algebra II, Government or Biology for credit recovery will need to check with their School Counselor to see if the End of Course Assessment is required. Students in these courses must complete all coursework by 6/25 and
may be required to come to WHS and take an in-person EOC between 6/26-6/27.
If an EOC is required, no credit or grade for these classes will be granted unless the EOC is completed within the testing window on campus.
